peer review on Thao's WA2

In general, the essay flows smoothly and logically. it gave me a clear picture of the issue although i did not get a chance to read the article itself.
In the introduction, the back ground of SMR is introduced followed by a question to reader, which attracts reader to find out more about it. Two arguments are used to support SMR, good transition singnals are used to make the flow of paragraphs logically and coherent. The problems of SMR are discussed at the end followed by suggested solutions, which makes the essay more complete.
However, there are a few grammar and spelling mistakes. And some quatationa are not cited properly, for instance, the first sentence in paregraph 3.In addition, the introduction part is divided into 4 small paragraphs, which i think can combine together or reduce to 2 parts.
For the sceond argement, no couterargement is provided and the evidence more emphsis on the difficulty of carry out the greenhouse agreement. so i suggest to use statiatical data of the larger amount of money need to be used for other solutions.

Summary of Article 3

Raul Estrada-Oyuela, a professional diplomat who was the chair of Kyoto Protocol negotiations, pointed out the significance of a good leader to steer the Copenhagen negotiation. He stated that to reach a an international climate agreement requires someone with exceptional skill, knowledge and diplomacy. However, the siuation was not good as the current elected leader did not have the necessary expereince to lead the negotiation. Raul suggested that the leader should be elected from a combined committee of UNFCCC and the Kyoto, which can be considered as a good solution in my opinion.

To understand the necessary qualifications of a well established leader, Raul illustrated his working experiences in previous climate change conferences where he worked with other distinguished diplomats. Firstly, he witnessed Jean-Maurice Ripert's skill in UNFCCC. Ripert, who chaired the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee, consulted privately with most delegations on every issue to understand their thinking and managed to declare a consensus by moderating the resistance. Secondly, he learnt clever tactics from ambassador Tommy Koh who was the eventual chair of the committee for the Earth Summit overcame the deadlock by making emotional appeals and telling jokes. Lastly, Raul worked together with Angela Merkel for the text before the final stage of Kyoto Protocol .Merkel was devoted to a constrctive compromise and worked very hard to get the consensus despite the protest.
Despite of political estimation shortcomings, the Kyoto Protocol has had an undeniable positive impact in international policy which causes people to put "climate change" at the center of international scene. In order to make futher progress, we have to choose the right person to lead the conference including two mian tasks sheard by working group on long term coorporation and
working group on futher commitments. Although both groups had progressed but not meeting the satisfactory point. Proper delay is acceptable if a good leader can not be found to lead the negotiation.

Peer review of Jing Xiong WA1

In general, i think your essay is well structured and ideas are expressed logically. Thesis statement is well defined in the introduction and the diversity of the concluding sentense types used make the text flows smoothly. However , there are still some minor points about the supporting details which are unclear to me.
I found that in your subtopics, you paraphased the quotations for all the supporting details. Some of them are even stated without mentioning the people and the event itself. I was wondering do you still need to "cite" , because some of them are just very general sentense or idea to me.For example, in paragrapf 4 you combined two different exapmles which i think it is a personal summary.
In addition, i think your supporting details are not detailed enough to illustrate your points. In paragragh 3 your second "quality" - knowledge, i can not get a clear picture of the nature of the quality and the quotation does not tell me how the author demenstrates although you put in your last sentence.

Comment on Min Ting's summary

Min Ting's summary is about the speech given by Benjamin K.Sovacool, Asistant Professor from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. It is apparent that there are 3 parts in the lecture, and they are overview of climate change conundrum, institutional solutions and individual solutions, which are all included in her summary.
To start with the climate change conundrum, Prof. Benjamin used bar charts to give us a clear picture of the emissions of various greenhouse gases as well as the comparison on emissions between different fields and countries.Min Ting pointed out the five areas and the countries with rapid economic growth are the mian producers. However, Prof aslo showed us the difference in CO2 emissions within each country itself which indicates that CO2 emissions has increased recently in most countries. Additionally, the richer the country is, the more CO2 it will emit.
Followed by the institutional and individual solutions, i think she has summarized it quite well. Just to add on her part on the Individual solutions, we can fight for climate change by changing our lifestyle in 4 main areas, that is, electricity, food, home and technology.
To sum up, Min Ting's summary is well structured and has almost cover all the information. But from my point of view, we can add in the two points to make it more complete.
